On November 28, the 2019 China Skills Competition—National Occupational Skills Competition of the Metallurgical Construction Industry & the 7th MCC Occupational Skills Contest (for Crane Riggers) was successfully closed in Chengdu. MCC19 won the Group First Prize, “Distinguished Contribution Award” and “Outstanding Organization Award”. MCC19 employees Cai Weigang, Xu Hailin, Xu Fengqiang, and Zhang Wei ranked the 1st, 2nd, 6th and 8th in terms of total individual score.
This contest for crane riggers is a national Class II competition co-sponsored by the China Metallurgical Construction Association, China Employment Training Technical Instruction Center (CETTIC), and China Metallurgical Group Corporation (MCC Group), co-organized by MCC19 and SANY Automobile Hoisting Machinery Co., Ltd. (Sichuan Zhonganxin Engineering Equipment Co., Ltd.), and supported by Hoisting Work Committee, China Metallurgical Construction Association. The 32 players were from 11 employers, including MCC19, China Second Metallurgy Group Corporation Limited, Shanghai Baoye Group, MCC17, China Metallurgical Construction Engineering Group Co., Ltd., China Huaye Group Company Limited, MCC Tiangong Group Corporation Limited, Baogang Northwest Ventures Construction Co., Ltd., Beijing Shougang Construction Group Co., Ltd., Sichuan City Star Mechanical Installation Engineering Co., Ltd., and Sichuan Zhonganxin Engineering Equipment Co., Ltd.
The contest comprises theoretical test and practical operation. The theoretical test, closed-book, examines what senior national riggers should know, and is divided into True or False, Single Choice, Multiple Choice, Short Answer and Calculation questions; while practical operation, containing preliminary and final rounds, assesses the performance of players in driving truck-type cranes. The former subject accounts for 30% of total preliminary score, while the latter accounts for 70%.
